Modern operational scenarios require the use of multifaceted and sophisticated weapon systems, which are strictly linked to advanced training capabilities. With specific reference to flight training, its requirements are even more important in consideration of complex technologies found in today’s 4th and 5th generation fighter aircrafts.
At the same time, the current financial crisis imposes to optimize the cost-effectiveness of air training,even through the development of state of art GBTS (Ground Based Training System) resources. To keep training costs down, the improvementof effective synergies in the sector appears, nowadays, more necessary than ever. This objective can be obtained through the sharing of the investments operated by each country, as well as the sharing of training capabilities gained over the years.
In addition to a high level of standardization achieved in decades of joint and combined activities in NATO and EU frameworks, Italian Air Forcehas already made a remarkable drive that has allowed the development of an important national flight training system, able to offer to partner Countries valuable and effective solutions founding on the allocation of national excellent resources.
The aim of the symposium is to share national experiences and points of view on flight training, to illustrate Italian Air Force training capabilities, to appreciate Italian industrial state of the art technologies, and to explore the opportunities for future cooperation in the field.
